My vision is to inspire families of all backgrounds to explore, be present, and have fun with their children in the Bay Area.

Treasure Island Flea Market

This past weekend we took our first trip to the Treasure Island Flea Market, which is open every weekend from 10am-4pm. We all had a really fun time! There was so much to see

and so many fun things to do.

Tent after tent of crafty vendors selling their unique wares could be seen all the way down the island. Vendors were selling everything; vintage clothes, hand carved phone cases, sparkling jewelry, incenses, soaps, crystals, toys, rare books, etc. I love shopping small and spending my money with creative local artists rather than big corporations. It's called cooperative economics and that is one of the best ways that you can vote with your lifestyle!

I happened upon a booth offering free fruits and veggies, as a vegan I had to stop and see what they were selling and I am so glad I did. The stand was called Imperfect Produce and they signed me up for a free box of fruit and vegetables on sight. The woman was telling me how much food the U.S. wastes in grocery stores that just gets thrown away because it does not look perfect. Imperfect Produce rescues that food and delivers it to consumers at a discounted rate. This morning I woke up and the box was on my doorstep- so glad I stopped by!

The children were all entertained as well. My youngest daughter basically chased dogs around the whole time. There was so many friendly dogs walking around with their owners that were happy to oblige her busy hands as she wanted to pet them all. My older daughter got to play Connect Four with a couple other kids on a giant set, she played video games for free at a pop-up arcade, and had fun browsing the jewelry. There were plenty of photo ops and even a cool photo booth in a car the had props for us to use.

In the center of the Flea Market are plenty of food trucks so you can have your pick and choose of any of them. I went to Curry Up Now which always provides me with some nice vegan options. There are also lots of drink booths if you want to stroll and browse with a drink in hand.

The best part about the flea market is the view! Treasure Island is sitting right in the middle of the Bay waters with views of the Bay Bridge, Golden Gate Bridge, and our beloved Oakland on each side.

This was our first trip to the Treasure Island Flea Market, but it definitely will not be our last!
