Bay Explorers

"My vision is to inspire families of all backgrounds to explore, be present, and have fun with their children in the Bay Area."

I was born and raised in Berkeley, California. I have lived in the Bay Area my whole life. As a kid I went on many adventures with my mom, schools, summer camps, and friends that helped me to get a cummulative knowledge of the many places to explore in and around the Bay Area. I also have a good understanding of young children as I have worked as a camp counselor, nanny, and preschool teacher for 15 years of my life. Oh yeah and I am the proud momma of my two beautiful daughters Satya & Ayala.

Now that I am a mom with a very active 7 year old as well as a baby, I spend every opportunity I can taking them to have fun experiences around the Bay Area on the weekends. I really enjoy revisiting spots that are nostalgic for me as well as finding new exciting places to go.

As a mom I beleive in getting your kids away from the TV and out of the house. Unplug from the TV and the programming that it is feeding your child's brain. Being present is the best present you can give your child. No kid ever remembers their best day of watching TV, but they'll carry with them forever the fun experiences you share together!

As a teacher I know children learn best through play and exploration. Being active in the community, adventurous in their surroundings, and encouraging a vegan/organic lifestyle are the keys to raising happy, healthy, empathetic, and compassionate kids.

I wanted to do something to encourage and help parents to have the resources to take their kids out for a  fun day that they will remember. You don't have to have a ton of money to make your children happy and have fun- just time and effort! The first rule to parenting is just showing up for your child.

I want this information to be benficial for every family across the board no matter your income level! Every parent has the right and ability to show their children a good time. Every place I have listed in my Parks section is absolutely free! Every festival is free to get in to as well, & it is up to the parent to decide how much they can spend at any given event. Many of the other listings are low cost, look for the $ signs under price to know what you are getting yourself in to. Also I highly recommend periodically checking sites like Groupon- they often have deals on family fun.

We are very lucky to  live in the Bay Area where there is literally a plethora of activities, amuesments, and outdoors galore to explore! I have compiled a list of the many fun places my family has visited, in hopes that it will awaken the adventurous spirit in you and your family! So get away from your TV, get outside, and get exploring!
