Description: One of the best bike rides this side of the Bay is located on the Richmond Shoreline. By best I mean child friendly and stunningly gorgeous! This is not for extreme bikers who want a challenge but it is a great flat riding path for families and those toting small children on their bikes. I like to start by Costco, there is a street you can turn down right before Costco and park on near the dog park (see post Pt.Isabel for more information on the dog park). Once you park and get started cycling it is flat smooth sailing along the path with beautiful views of the Bay and San Francisco. The bike path winds around the Richmond Marina and leads to a cute little park called The Barbara and Jay Vincent Park. This park is small but has everything kids need to keep them occupied: slides, swings, structures, and sand. Plus it has amazing views of the water. I also often see people having group gatherings there so I'm thinking it has BBQ pits and for sure there are picnic benches. You can stop at this park for playtime and a rest. For me with my baby that was our turning around point, after about 40 minutes of play time and bike break, we headed back to where we parked. I have in the past kept going and if you ride further down you will come to a fancy restaurant and a sandwich shop where you can take a break as well as get a bite to eat.

Highlights: The highlight of the ride is that on clear sunny days the views of San Francisco and the Bay are beautiful. You won't be able to take your eyes off the glistening water which is perfect while you get some exercise in too!

Tips: If it is sunny bring protective gear from the sun. If it is overcast bring layers. I suggest packing a bag with a light snack and plenty of water and while you stop for some playtime you can also have a small meal to energize your little riders.
