Description: Plank is a fun and hip semi-new Oakland venue. It is really nice and vamped up on the inside and out. Located in Oakland's lovely Jack London Square, it is a great place to play and have fun with your little ones, or grab a bite to eat and an adult beverage. Plank has wide open bowling lanes and lots of over sized arcade games to keep your children having a good time. Outside there is boccie ball as well as food and beverage service. We went to Plank for my husband's work party and they have a really cool private party space in the back with separate bowling lanes and another private bar and food service. My oldest daughter had a great time bowling and playing a slew of arcade games with her friends. My youngest daughter on the other hand was not so amused- but luckily for us Jack London Square was just outside the door and I took her for a stroller walk to the Farmer's Market (Sundays) and then let her play in the grass. So it worked out for everyone. The outdoor patio (although I didn't get to sit and enjoy it so much) looked like a nice place for a drink and a meal and a chance to enjoy the outdoor weather.

Highlights: It's in Jack London Square so there are always lots of events going on down there. Including the weekly Farmers Market (Sundays), Jack of All Trades Market, movies on the water, the Eat Real Festival, and many more events- if you time it correctly you can catch more than one thing in a day.

Tips: Parking is expensive but there are always lots available if you can't find street parking. I hear Plank can get really crowded during the evenings so if you are bringing kids I would opt for day time. When we went on a Sunday afternoon it was very mellow and not overwhelming.
