Mosswood Park

Description: Mosswood Park is a huge park with many different attributes to it, located between downtown and north Oakland right near the Kaiser buildings. One of the best features of this park is that is has giant rolling lawns, perfect for a picnic, frisby, a soccer game, or to host a birthday party at. Or just bringing your furry four legged friend for a walk and a run. The basketball courts are almost always in use and always look as if they have a serious game going on. There are two different sections for children. One enclosed area for younger children/ toddlers with age appropriate swings and a climbing structure. There is another section for older more able bodied children with a bigger climbing structure which is shaped as a pirate ship and age appropriate swings. I have attended many birthday parties at Mosswood Park and it is always a nice time. They also have BBQ pits and picnic tables if you are looking for a place to have an outdoor party. Mosswood also hosts several festivals throughout the year including the pan African Roots festival and the Black Eye Pea festival both are held in the summer.

Highlights: The park has a little bit of something for everyone to make your day at the park fun and complete. It is also very near many restaurants and places to eat if you are hungry after you play or if you want to bring food to enjoy at the park.

Tips: Parking can sometimes be a little difficult as it is in a busy area but you can almost find at least one spot if you loop around the park one time. Also sometimes a Filipino food truck is parked on the side of the park, if you don't want to walk far for food.
