Description: If the weather outside is frightful, being inside in their heated pool makes swimming delightful! I am a wimp for cold water and non-heated pools, Albany pool is inside and heated- so you can swim anytime of the year! While most outdoor pools in the Bay Area shut down in the Winter months, Albany pool is one place you can swim in year round. Located right next to Memorial park, makes it easy to pack two fun things for your child to do in a day. There is a sectioned off family swim area as well as lap lanes for your more advanced swimmers (but they must take the test first). Outside there are even more lap lanes for faster swimmers. Changing areas with showers are provided. The pool also provides noodles for fun and help with young swimmers. They have weekend swim lessons for children of all ages.

 

Highlights: You can go anytime of the year! Most other pools in the Bay Area close down during "Winter" and do not open back up until "Spring." I put the seasons in quotes because in the Bay are seasons have been blending together due to global warming. So even when it is 70 degrees in February, many pools still are not open.

 

Tips: Get there between 1:30-2 for family swim hours on the weekend. The pool has strict ratios of swimmers to life guards, if the pool goes to capacity you may have to wait until swimmers start leaving to get in- which is really heartbreaking to your little excited swimmer.
